Set in a different time frame, this year’s NATS will be a little different. Many long-time, experienced volunteers won’t be here so we’ll be counting on our participants to lend a hand to make this year’s events a quality experience for everyone. Flight line help, cart retrieval drivers, and timers will be needed.
Here are some changes for this year worth noting:
• NOS – the landing task will be an “in-or-out” of the semi-circle defined by the tape with the flat side of the semi circle parallel to the safety line. (In = 25 landing points; Out = 0 landing points. )
• F3J – the event will be held at Site 4.
• ALES – the event will be held at Site 5.
• ONLY the pilot and the pilot’s timer may be on the flight line during a flight. Pilots and timers should be aware that the safety line is one of the field boundaries and sailplanes that wind up across that line get a score of zero for the round. The safety line will be 15 feet from the “hot” end of the landing tape.
