June 2018 Newsletter

LSF Members,

The first six months on the job have been interesting to say the least. On behalf of the Board of Directors the following news is presented.

International News (OCONUS):

  • John Quigley and Simon Morris on board with LSF Australia. The LSF BOD met their requests and I am pleased to say that all the upgrades proffered have been accepted and entered into the LSF database

  • David Griffin has taken over the helm as country coordinator for New Zealand

  • Friedrich Koch from Austria is on board!

Stateside News (CONUS):

  • Election Status per the bylaws (tad bit late on this, sorry. Votes received in parentheses after name)
    • Walter Adasczik (PRES)– Elected Unopposed
    • Jim McCarthy (TREAS)– Elected Unopposed
    • Peter Goldsmith (VP) (47) vs Tom Broeski (34)
    • Skye Malcolm (58) vs John Marien (SEC) (23). Skye won but elected to hand reins to John Marien due to personal commitments

  • LSF Common Database
We had three or four databases going on between Excel spreadsheets and the LSF Access database. These have all been merged, PITA, into a common database maintained on the LSF website. Hats off to David Beach for his effort there

  • Silent Wings: None

  • NATS Registrations: Coming from the AMA now. Processing has been fairly quick. If you submitted an upgrade last year and you never heard back from the LSF please reach out to the LSF Secretary - John Marien (john@ne-aero.com).

  • 2018 NATS:
The schedule is below. Registrations are slightly over what we had at this same time last year. Please make every effort to attend.

  • I have been trading email with Yolanda Jones and have stated we will have “12” days of soaring in 2019. Ten on site and two off site for XC. Unless I hear something differently when the schedule gets hammered out at the annual meeting the LSF will plan for 10 days on-site.

  • Twitch feed. Livestreaming comes to the NATS. For those of you that are tech savvy, or not, you can launch TWITCH either on a PC [https://www.twitch.tv/directory] or via IOS [download TWITCH app] , enter “lsf_nats” in the search box at the top, and watch XC and the NATS via livestream. The Annual meeting will be live streamed and I will take questions or comments via the chat function within. Round and daily scores will be streamed continuously also. We will also post the round scores to the Groups as time permits.
